Miután megérkezett, körbevezettem őt a lakásban, hogy "felmérhesse" a lakás adottságait, illetve azt, hogy a környezet, amibe a gyermeket várjuk, megfelelő-e az értelmi, érzelmi fejlődésének.
(Mi egy picit speciális eset vagyunk, mert építkezünk és jelen pillanatban albérletben lakunk, így ezt a lépést majd meg kell ismételnünk, miután átköltözünk a saját házunkba.)
Miután látta, hogy a feltételeknek megfelelünk (van olyan szoba, ahol a gyermek alhat, van villany, víz, fűtés), leültünk beszélgetni.
Megkérdezte, hogy miért szeretnénk örökbe fogadni, miért pont Nigériát választottuk, hogyan viszonyul a családunk, a baráti körünk az örökbefogadás kérdéséhez. Ezután rátért az anyagi kérdésekre, a család jövedelmi helyzetére.
A kérdőív kitöltése után véleményt írt, hogy az ő meglátása szerint nincs kizáró oka annak, hogy örökbe fogadhassunk.
Tájékoztatott arról is, hogy a szakvéleményeket elküldik 10 napon belül a lakóhely szerinti Gyámhivatlba, ahonnak 22 munkanap múlva kapunk határozatot. A határozat elkészültéről értesítenek minket, majd be kell fáradnunk a hivatalba a határozat megtekintésére, ahova vinnünk kell a jövedelemigazolásunkat is.
Izgatottan várjuk az eredményt és addig is kutakodunk, hogy kivel vegyük fel a kapcsolatot, aki érdemben tud segíteni nekünk Nigériában.

Officially,
the last step is the Home study. On Monday (March 18) a very kind and helpful
lady, visited us from Child Protection Services.
Once she
arrived, I showed her around in the house so that she could ''assess'' our
housing situation
to make
sure that the environment, into which the child is expected, is proper for
their mental and
emotional
development.
(We are a
special case since we are currently renting an apartment until our house is
being built so we have to repeat this step after moving into our house.)
After
having seen that we satisfy the conditions (there is a room where the child
could sleep, there is electricity, water, heating), we sat down to talk.
She asked
why we wanted to adopt a child, why we chose Nigeria, what our families’ and
friends’
attitude was toward our endeavors. Then she
proceeded with the financial questions and our financial situation.
After completing a survey, she put it into
writing that, according to her opinion, there is no reason to refuse our request
to adopt.
She also informed us of that the expert's
report will be sent to the local Child Protection Services in 10 days and from
them we are to receive a Decision in 22 work days. We will be notified when the
Decision is made and we will have to go to their Office for a viewing; we also
have to show our Certificate of Income.
We're excited about the results and will be
researching whom to contact in order to get some actual help concerning
Nigeria.
